'Loulu' is the Hawaiian name for pritchardia or the fan palm.  Loulu is pronounced low-oo and means "umbrella" because the leaves were formally used as protection from the sun or rain.  There are as many as 19 endemic species of pritchardia in the Hawaiian islands.  Here Kean depicts a loulu palm as an original limited edition linocut.  It is hand printed on Washi paper made from cedar bark and cold river water in Japan. 'Loulu' is part of Kean's botanical series.  The artwork is float mounted in a shadow box style frame.
