Here, Kean depicts a location on the North Shore of Oahu that he visits often, Ali'i Beach Park. Kaena Point, seen in the background, tapers off into the deep Pacific Ocean while a rolling wave approaches the coastline. One of his most laborious pieces to date, 'Ali'i' combines his signature style of mark making with explorations into a variety of textures to depict sand, coastal vegetation and palm trees. It is an ode to one of his favorite places to reset and find moments of solitude in the early morning hours or to simply wind down while watching the sunset.
